cd's Bypass

NEW ALBUM "Bypass":

Towards the end of 2007 I joined a new Indie band, however we

couldn't agree on a band name.  I was looking forward to

concentrating on doing some proper vocals, since I'd been

very insecure about my singing and always felt I needed to

tweak them or make them a bit better.  I'd been avoiding

intense vocals on my solo music as I wanted to experiment with

new ways of putting my tracks together.

Just as things were coming together, the band kind of dissolved

into the realm where all your odd socks end up!

Our rhythm guitarist started working nights and

we just couldn't find time to get together

to continue our songs.

In a fit of frustration, I decided to piss into

the wind and confront my fears and just fucking

write some songs and do my best with the vocals.

I surprised myself, cause it doesn't sound too bad, I was certain that

my vocals wouldn't hold out for a whole 12 songs and even considered collaborating

with some other friends who do vocals - but my impatience got the better of me and I decided that my efforts

worked quite well on most of the tracks for what I wanted so kept it with just me on them.

It's funny how the songs you hate the most can sometimes end up growing on you - I think it's the cheese factor!

With a bit of perseverance and tweaking - the crap songs often end up being your favourites - isn't that ironic?

Of course I never listen to my own stuff once it's uploaded and filed away, unless I'm sharing them intimately with

someone special.  It's a bit like making photo albums, except it's all put into music.  Listening to my old stuff makes

me feel the way I did when I first made the track.  It's much more effective than a photograph.

At least when I die, my voice will still haunt the ears of the odd unsuspecting visitor and at least I'll know I put all

those emotions somewhere for safe keeping.  I like relating to other people's emotional songs, it re-assures me

that I'm not the only one whose gone through some bad shit!

It took me less than a year to complete Bypass, and it had it's name and artwork changed many many times before

I finally settled on my decisions.  I really hope nobody listens to it in

my presence cause there's something awfully embarrassing about

hearing yourself sing in the presence of others through a

recording.  I just hope it's less excruciating performing

live as I still need to know what that feels like, but it would have

to be in a band so I'm supported by friends!

Check it out if you get time, but don't take it too seriously,

I was usually high 99% of the time so sometimes my sub-conscious

just takes over!

The front sleeve image is a photograph of one of BANKSY's

graffiti artwork.  It's my favourite piece

by him as the graffiti that isn't there is

just as important as the graffiti that is in

order to form the overall creature's shape.

It's as if he's making something better out

of a complete defaced mess.  Which is kinda how I

feel about my life right now! - LOL
